State of Ares Q1 2025

Greetings Adventurers,

This will be my introduction and an update for the game! I want to start off by thanking [GM] Cole for this opportunity to be here and continue this journey with The Legend of Ares. Few things are more important than my spreadsheets but being involved to help here is definitely one of them! There is a lot of information to go over so get comfortable as you read on.

The journey so far has been complex. Many players have expressed their views on the game. Some more strongly than others. Indeed, the previous updates such as the Legend of Ares Direction Changes or the previous State of Ares offer acknowledgement of these topics, and I thought it befitting to address what I can at this moment.

Rebuild

Which rewrite is right for the rite of Ares? Some observers may have seen Discord talks about a rebuild. There has been an ongoing war against issues popping up unexpectedly. These have been thoroughly tracked internally and frustrations voiced by the community. This rebuild will fix many of these issues, but more importantly, enable us to fix issues or add new features at significantly faster speeds. Not only that, we can have much more confidence that our updates won't break something else. Now is the time to get this squared away for the future of Ares. That said I want to be clear that this is not going interrupt my roadmap for content.

Hunter Packs

The evolution of growth packs! These packs will be rewards for completing the new Hunter Questline. The first part of this will drop soon. The quests start at level 105 with a new quest unlocked every five levels while sticking to current content in the game which means they will continue to grow! Get ready for the hunt!

Internal Tools & Support

Touching briefly on this as it was mentioned before. The tools are expandingly rapidly and my growing curiosity and required understanding on what is available. Support staff is chugging away at tickets, and I am alerted every step of the way. If you find yourself at the support ticket section, please keep your issue contained to what the ticket is about and not add to each ticket. Being able to identify each issue per ticket helps speed up the process.

Community Feedback

Previously Content-Ideas were removed. However General Discussion and related channels on Discord have been brought back to life. Please reach out to us with your feedback. Depending on the amount of feedback I will bring something to the table to consolidate this for viewing - similar to content ideas. Keep it respectful while I keep an eye on it.

Foundation and Balance

A sizable chunk of my onboarding was to go over the original design of Ares and how it relates to now. Up front I want to say changes are coming and balance will be an ongoing task. The goal here is to set the foundation to build upon. Any changes after setting the foundation should be kept to a minimum according to game metrics over a span of time.

Progression

Progression should feel continuous while being rewarding no matter where you are in your journey.

Character Levels: Formerly known as certifications. These are under review to continue enhancing your characters capabilities.
Loot: Under review to make this feel more enjoyable. A path forward has been found.
Quests: Expect more quests. While we don't expect to have a quest every level, I am standardizing certain templates to move forward. New features are also being explored for quests at this time. Quests will be categorized soon as main and side quests to keep you on the adventure.

Events

Outside of main events, like holidays, there are community events I will be in game for. The plan is to do a good amount of those but most importantly to let players know ahead of time.
